About Library

The Bapujee College library has been in operation since the establishment of Bapujee College, Sarukhetri on 7th August 1970 and has contributed significantly to the surrounding society by disseminating knowledge and information in the Sarukhetri area. The college library has a rich collection of 15000 books of texts and reference books which include dictionaries, encyclopedias, novels, biographies, reports, and papers etc. some of which are of rare and significant value in their contents. Apart from books, the library also offers newspapers, magazines, newsletters, pamphlets and journals of national and international standards. The college library also provides e-resources, internet browsing facilities and print services for e-resources as per the requirements of the users.

The people of Saruskhetri area, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college have enough contribution to initialization of the college library, especially those who have working since inception of the college. The college library has shifted from its previous small room (12 x 16) sq. ft. in the AT type building to the first floor of the present building in 2004 which covers a total area of 3229.2 sq. ft.


The library was started its automation process by installing the WINISIS Software, a window version of CDS/ISIS developed and maintained by UNESCO in 2004. The library automation process was started with only one computer system, which was donated by Mr. Bichatra Chowdhury, President, and Governing Body of the College. Later SOUL 1.0 software designed and developed by INFLIBNET, Ahmedabad was installed in 2008 for creation and management of college library book database and upgraded to SOUL 2.0 in 2011. The digital library development process was initiated in 2017 under the assist of state government grade install and integrated Dspace digital library software. The KOHA library software for housekeeping operation have installed and integrated RFID technology in 2017 to enable the self-services to users.

In addition to the collection of textbooks and reference books, the college library has special collections on the Sarukshetri area which have been of great help in research work towards the area.
